Quick answer
The right alternative depends on why you are leaving. Institutions leaving MANTL want origination without being pulled into Alkami's digital banking; those leaving Narmi want account opening without re-platforming the whole stack; those leaving MeridianLink Opening want a deposit front end that is not an afterthought to the loan file; those evaluating Fuse want the account opening layer without changing the LOS; those on Finastra Originate want third-party cores named and supported. Cotribute is built for all five of those cases, and Clutch, Prelim and Narmi Grow fit some of them.
Why institutions look for an alternative
In our conversations with credit unions and community banks, the trigger is rarely a missing feature. It is a structural fit that was fine at signing and is not fine now: a vendor acquired by a digital banking company, a product that requires a bigger decision than the one the institution wants to make, a loan-centric platform whose deposit flow has not kept up, or a contract that cannot be left without a core or LOS conversion. The sections below take each incumbent on its own published terms.
Alternatives to MANTL (Alkami)
What MANTL publishes. Consumer and business deposit origination for banks and credit unions, a loan origination product in early access, twenty named cores (Corelation, CSI, FIS, eight Fiserv cores, Finastra Phoenix, four Jack Henry cores, Smiley) and five digital banking platforms (Alkami, Banno, CSI, Lumin, Q2). MANTL states a 60% conversion lift and 84% of applications handled without manual work. It publishes no implementation timeline and no pricing. Alkami acquired it in 2025 at a $400 million enterprise value.
Why institutions look elsewhere. Since the acquisition, MANTL is one product inside a digital banking company. An institution on Banno, Q2 or Lumin that wants origination alone now has to weigh how long an Alkami-owned product will keep investing in connections to Alkami's competitors. Lending on MANTL is still early access, so a credit union that wants loans and deposits on one platform is waiting on a roadmap.
What to look at instead. Cotribute runs consumer and business deposits, consumer and business loans and in-session activation on one implementation, with Alkami and Banno both supported as digital banking entry points and no ownership tie to either. Clutch is a credit-union-only option with deposits and lending live. For banks that want MANTL's breadth of bank cores, Prelim covers Fiserv DNA, Fiserv Signature and FIS IBS.
Alternatives to Narmi
What Narmi publishes. Narmi One is a full digital banking stack: consumer and business banking, account opening (Narmi Grow), instant payments, fraud, back office, open APIs and Narmi Lend. Grow can be bought alone. Narmi names eight cores and says it has gone live on more than fifteen. Its published go-lives are 49, 72 and 81 days for account opening and under five months for a full bank, with an 80% application completion rate against a 30% industry figure. No pricing is published.
Why institutions look elsewhere. Narmi's account opening is excellent inside Narmi's banking. Bought alone, it is a module from a company whose strategy is to replace your digital banking, and every roadmap conversation leads back there. Institutions committed to Alkami, Banno or Q2 for the next contract term are buying a product designed to make that decision for them. Narmi Lend routes applications to your existing LOS rather than originating loans, so lending stays a separate project.
What to look at instead. For account opening that stays independent of the digital banking decision, Cotribute (with Alkami and Banno embeds), MANTL (with five named digital banking platforms) and Clutch all keep that choice open. If lending on the same platform is the goal, Cotribute and Clutch originate loans; Narmi Lend hands them off.
Alternatives to MeridianLink Opening
What MeridianLink publishes. Opening is the deposit account module of MeridianLink One, alongside MeridianLink Consumer (the LOS), Mortgage, Access, DecisionLender, Engage and others. The Opening page describes checking, savings, money market, CD and IRA accounts, cross-sell offers mid-application, real-time funding, ID verification and built-in CIP, KYC and beneficial ownership workflows, with accounts opened "in under four minutes." It names no cores on the product page; the marketplace lists Jack Henry, Symitar, Fiserv, FIS, Finastra, CSI, Corelation and others. Implementation "varies." MeridianLink was taken private by Centerbridge in October 2025. Its first AI agents, announced in May 2026, are document agents for mortgage and consumer lending; none is announced for deposits.
Why institutions look elsewhere. MeridianLink Opening sells best to institutions already on MeridianLink Consumer. For a credit union that keeps the LOS and wants a stronger deposit front door, Opening is the module that gets the least investment, and the published AI roadmap confirms where the attention is. Business deposit accounts are not described on the Opening product page.
MeridianLink Opening vs alternatives. The useful comparison is not Opening against the whole market but Opening against platforms that coexist with MeridianLink Consumer. Cotribute does: consumer and business deposits, in-session activation and fraud screening on Cotribute, with loan applications handed to MeridianLink Consumer where the credit decision is made. An institution keeps its LOS, its decisioning and its adverse action process, and replaces only the deposit front end. Clutch and Glide also integrate to MeridianLink Consumer; Glide's first product is deposit origination with the decisioning left to MeridianLink.
Alternatives to Fuse
What Fuse publishes. An AI-native loan origination system with account opening on the same platform, "200+ integrations" without naming cores, new integrations in under a month, and, unusually, pricing: $100,000 a year, $50,000 for smaller credit unions, $0 implementation, plus a "$5M Rescue Fund" that lets the first fifty qualifying credit unions use Fuse free until their existing LOS contract expires. Fuse reports a 2.4x conversion improvement within a year and names Navigant, Canopy and Vibrant as customers.
Why institutions look elsewhere. Fuse is a loan origination system first. Its free period is tied to the LOS contract because the offer assumes you will replace the LOS. A credit union that is happy with its LOS and wants to fix account opening is being asked to make a lending decision to get a deposit product. Fuse names no cores on its site, so real-time posting to your specific core is a question to ask rather than a fact to read.
What to look at instead. Cotribute's Parallel Start is the equivalent offer for the origination layer alone: an institution that has decided to leave its incumbent origination vendor goes live on Cotribute in production during the remaining contract term and pays nothing until that contract ends, with the LOS untouched. It is offered case by case and subject to approval by our finance team. The distinction from Fuse's Rescue Fund is the scope: Cotribute changes the origination layer; Fuse's offer changes the LOS.
Alternatives to Finastra Originate
What Finastra publishes. Originate consolidates Finastra's former uOpen, Consumerbot and MortgagebotPOS products into one platform for consumer and business deposits, loans and mortgage, hosted on Microsoft Azure, with "real-time onboarding, account creation and funding" and applications under five minutes. Integration is described as "seamless" with Finastra's Phoenix and LaserPro and with "third-party core banking solutions," none of which are named. No implementation time or pricing is published. Beacon Credit Union is the named lending customer.
Why institutions look elsewhere. The product is strongest for institutions on Finastra's own core. For everyone else, the unnamed third-party core list is the issue: a bank on Jack Henry SilverLake or a credit union on Symitar cannot tell from Finastra's material whether its core is a published, maintained integration or a project. The institutions we hear from most on this are community banks on a Fiserv or Jack Henry core that run Decision Pro as the LOS and want to keep it.
What to look at instead. Cotribute names all thirteen cores it posts to and which eleven post in real time, is live on Jack Henry SilverLake with loans flowing to Decision Pro, and is a Fiserv AppMarket partner on DNA. Finastra's own LaserPro and Decision Pro stay in place as the document and decision systems. For banks that want to stay close to Finastra, Prelim integrates to Finastra Phoenix and Fiserv DNA.
What every alternative has to prove
Whichever vendor you move to, ask for the same three things the incumbent could not give you: an application posting to a sandbox of your core in real time, a funded rate from a client your size, and a written implementation timeline for your core. Then ask what happens to your current contract.
Switching mid-contract
Most institutions reading this page are under contract. Two published offers address that directly. Fuse's Rescue Fund covers the LOS replacement path. Cotribute's Parallel Start covers the origination path: live in production on your existing core during the incumbent term, nothing paid until the incumbent contract ends, offered case by case with finance approval. Timing a switch to another change already under way also works: Red River Credit Union moved eleven consumer loan products and account opening to Cotribute during its core conversion from Fiserv XP2 to Corelation KeyStone, and reported 28% more monthly loan applications twelve months after go-live.
Frequently asked questions
What are the alternatives to MANTL for digital account opening?
For institutions that want origination without an Alkami tie: Cotribute (deposits, lending and activation on one implementation, Alkami and Banno supported), Clutch (credit unions only) and, for banks on Fiserv or FIS cores, Prelim.
What are the alternatives to Narmi for account opening alone?
Cotribute, MANTL and Clutch all sell account opening independent of the digital banking decision. Narmi Grow can be bought alone, but Narmi's platform strategy is full digital banking.
What are the alternatives to MeridianLink Opening if we keep MeridianLink Consumer?
Cotribute coexists with MeridianLink Consumer: deposits, activation and fraud on Cotribute, loan applications handed to the LOS for the credit decision. Clutch and Glide also integrate to MeridianLink Consumer.
What is the alternative to Fuse's Rescue Fund if we do not want to replace our LOS?
Cotribute's Parallel Start: production go-live during the remaining incumbent origination contract, nothing paid until it ends, the LOS untouched. Offered case by case, subject to finance approval.
What are the alternatives to Finastra Originate on a non-Finastra core?
Cotribute names thirteen cores including Jack Henry SilverLake and Fiserv DNA and keeps Decision Pro and LaserPro in place. Prelim covers Fiserv DNA, Fiserv Signature, FIS IBS and Finastra Phoenix.
