Turn opened accounts into active relationships, in the same session.

Cotribute originated the account, so it knows the moment something needs to happen and finishes it right there. Funding, direct deposit, cards, joint owners, beneficiaries: prompted at the right time, completed by the member or customer in one authenticated session, written straight to your core. No nightly file. No handoff. No call-center ticket.

Member Activation is how credit unions and community banks turn opened accounts into active relationships: Cotribute prompts the member or customer and completes the action in one session, written to the core.

Built on the Cotribute platform you already use for account opening, lending and AI Growth Agents.

An opened account is not an active member or customer.

You paid to acquire the account. Whether it ever earns that back is decided in the first 30 days, and in every service request after that.

Opened, never activated

An account with no direct deposit, no card in the wallet, and no digital banking login is a line in the core, not a relationship. It holds a low balance, it churns, and the acquisition spend behind it never comes back.

Activation tools that guess

Most onboarding platforms learn what happened from last night's census file. They infer that an account holder probably didn't enroll, send a message a day late, and then hand them off to a branch or a call center to actually do the work. Messaging is not activation.

Routine changes that cost a visit

Adding a joint owner, naming a beneficiary, updating an address, refreshing an expired ID: each one is a staff transaction today, and each one left undone is a stale record and a compliance exposure. Your members and customers want to do these themselves. Your core won't let them.

The fix is not another messaging tool. It is finishing the action inside the session, on the live core record.

Two ways to activate. One engine that writes to the core.

Because Cotribute opened the account, it already holds the identity, the products, and the core record. Activation is the next write, not a new integration.

Triggered by origination

In-session activation

The moment an account opens, funds, or stalls, Cotribute knows. It prompts the member or customer at the right time, brings them back on a verified link, and completes the action in one authenticated session. Every step is proven by the core record, not by a guess from the next file.

Any time after opening, started by either side

On-demand activation

Members and customers start it themselves from digital banking or single sign-on, with no campaign required: add a joint owner, order a card, update an address, set a beneficiary. Your institution starts it for the accounts that need attention: dormant balances, expired IDs, missing beneficiaries, Reg E and address updates, compliance rescreens. Either way the account holder finishes it in minutes and the core is updated when they do.

Scheduled journeys

Set the sequence once: day 1, day 3, day 7, day 30. Each step stops the moment the account holder completes the action, so nobody is nudged to enroll in a service they already have. Run two variants of a prompt side by side and keep the one that converts. Availability is confirmed in your implementation plan.

Messaging is not activation. Completion is.

What members and customers finish in one session

In-sessionCFO

Fund it and switch the paycheck on day one

The account opens and the direct deposit switch starts in the same session. The balance that decides whether this becomes the primary account (or, for a bank customer, the primary operating account) arrives before the member or customer closes the tab. Consumer account opening →

In-sessionDigital

Card active, digital banking enrolled, paper off

Activate the card, enroll in digital banking, and opt into eStatements before the welcome screen. Three enrollments your census-file tool would chase for weeks, done once.

In-sessionOps

Add the joint owner right after opening

The applicant said "my spouse should be on this." Cotribute verifies the second person, runs OFAC, and writes the joint owner to the core while the first owner is still signed in.

In-sessionRisk

Name beneficiaries while it is top of mind

A beneficiary prompt in the opening session beats a letter six months later. Captured, e-signed, filed to imaging.

In-sessionCEO

Open the next product on the live relationship

Add a share or savings account, a suffix or sub-account, a certificate or CD, or apply for a loan from inside the activated account. No re-keying identity. No second application. Consumer lending →

On-demand: member or customerDigital

Add or change the people on my account

Joint owners, authorized signers, POA roles. Started from digital banking, verified to the tier the change requires, written to the core. Business account opening →

On-demand: member or customerDigital

Order, replace, or control my card

Replacement cards, limits, travel windows, and access grants from the account holder's own session instead of a phone queue.

On-demand: member or customerCFO

Move money and set up transfers

Internal transfers, recurring transfers, overdraft links, and ACH setup with one-time-passcode verification.

On-demand: member or customerOps

Keep my profile current

Address, employment, contact details, and a fresh ID photo when the old one expires. The member or customer updates it; the record updates with it.

On-demand: institutionCEO

Reactivate dormant accounts

Pick the dormant segment, send the verified link, and let the account holder fund, enroll, or add a service in minutes. Proof is the core write, not a reply rate. AI Growth Agents →

On-demand: institutionRisk

Close the compliance gaps

Expired IDs, missing beneficiaries, Reg E opt-ins, OFAC rescreens, CIP and beneficial-ownership refreshes, fee and tax classification maintenance: each one an account-holder-completed update instead of a staff work queue. Fraud & decisioning →

Verified to the level the action deserves

Self-service only works if the wrong person can't use it. Every action in the catalog is assigned a tier by what an attacker would gain, not by how easy it is to build, and the gate ships with the action.

Every write carries an audit record in the core and in Cotribute. When an examiner asks who changed what and how they were verified, the answer is one query away.

Cotribute vs. nightly-file activation tools

Onboarding platforms that read your census file can only message. The platform that wrote the record can finish the job.

Estimate the benefits for your institution

Member Activation helps credit unions and community banks earn more from accounts they already open: more direct deposits, fewer paper statements, routine changes handled digitally and more products on each relationship. Enter your assets to see a modeled annual benefit.

How is the benefit calculated?

We estimate account holders from assets ($16,000 each) unless you enter a count, then add six lines: new direct deposits from existing account holders ($200 a year each), accounts moved to eStatements ($9), routine changes handled digitally ($4.23 saved each), next products opened ($150), new accounts with direct deposit set up in session ($200), and new accounts kept that would have left ($565 acquisition cost avoided). The two groups are shown separately so nothing is counted twice. These are modeled estimates, not measured results.

Writes to the core you already run

Member Activation adds a services layer to the same native adapters that open accounts today, so maintenance actions (update an address, add an owner, change a card limit) land in the live record the same way a new account does. No core conversion, no middleware project, no new vendor in the data path.

Frequently asked questions

OpsDoes this replace our onboarding or census-file tool?

For accounts Cotribute opens, yes: the trigger, the prompt, the action, and the proof all happen inside Cotribute. For your back book, Cotribute imports the census and runs the same verified journeys, so you can retire the messaging-only tool when you're ready.

RiskWhat stops someone from adding themselves as a joint owner?

Tier 3 actions never run on knowledge-based answers. Adding a person requires document identity verification on the new party, an OFAC screen, and velocity rules on how many such changes an account can make. Removing an owner or closing an account is always routed to your staff, whether you are a credit union or a bank.

ITDo we need a core conversion, new middleware, or a new vendor in the data path?

No. Whether you are a credit union or a bank, Member Activation uses the same native core adapter that opens your accounts, extended with maintenance operations. Entry from digital banking is single sign-on with Alkami, Banno, Q2, Candescent or Lumin Digital; entry from a prompt is a verified link.

MarketingCan we run scheduled journeys and test them?

Yes. Build day 1, day 3, day 7, and day 30 sequences, stop each step on completion, and run two variants of any prompt side by side. Because completion is a core write, your test reads actual enrollments, not click-throughs. Your implementation plan confirms availability on your core.

CFOHow do we measure the lift?

Every action writes to the core, so the measures are already in your data: direct deposits established, average balance at 30 and 90 days, digital banking enrollments, eStatement adoption, and staff transactions avoided. Cotribute reports each by journey and by cohort.

DigitalWhat can members and customers do from inside digital banking?

Any on-demand action their tier allows: add or change people on the account, order or control cards, move money, update their profile, open another product, and sign documents. No separate login, no re-entering identity.

See activation on your own core.

Bring one action your staff handles today. We'll show the member or customer finishing it in a single session, verified, and written to your core, live.
